  Maxwell C. Shoemaker | International Master Councilor

Maxwell Shoemaker was born and raised in San Diego, CA. In 2003, he was introduced to his home chapter, Agate Chapter, which is located in Escondido, CA. Over his career in DeMolay, he has attained the Lamp of Knowledge, Representative DeMolay Award, Founder's Membership Award, Distinguished Service Award. On September 23, 2006 he was installed Master Councilor of his home Chapter and concurrently served as President of Southwest Pacific District (Presiding Officer of San Diego County) from 2006-2007 and again from 2007-2008. After turning 18 years old, he joined Consuelo Lodge #325 in December 2008 and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in March of 2009. That summer Max was also honored with the degree of Chevalier. After serving at the District level he wanted to serve this organization on a larger scale, and he served Southern California Jurisdiction as Jurisdictional Master Councilor from 2009-2010. During his tenure, Southern California established a fundraising program for Relay for Life and has also achieved positive growth in 2009 and has been achieving it ever since. He again wished to serve the Order of DeMolay in more depth and was appointed Region 8 Cabinet Member for the 44th DeMolay International Congress Cabinet where he worked to develop a resource for all Jurisdictions to be able to use called the "How To" Book. On June 18, 2011, Max Shoemaker was elected and installed to serve as DeMolay International's 45th International Master Councilor. Max loves the Order of DeMolay and is excited to to serve the young men of our Order as their International Master Councilor for the 2011-2012 term.

  Michael A. Burge | International Congress Secretary

A resident of Bridgeport, West Virginia, Michael A. Burge began his life in DeMolay on September 22nd, 2002, when he was initiated into Clarksburg Chapter of Clarksburg, West Virginia. After moving through the offices and progressive line, Michael was installed as Master Councilor on September 26th, 2004 at the age of fourteen. After completing his first term, he was awarded the Past Master Councilor’s Meritorious Service Award for his dedicated leadership and service to his Chapter. Michael served a total of three terms. In 2006, he was elected to serve as State Junior Councilor for West Virginia DeMolay. This was his first position of leadership on the state level. At the 2008 annual Conclave of West Virginia DeMolay, his brothers conferred upon him a great honor by electing him State Master Councilor. Later that fall, he was elevated to the rank and given the honor of the Degree of Chevalier. At the following DeMolay International Session, the brethren of Region IV expressed their confidence by electing him their Cabinet Member to the International DeMolay Congress. Michael was asked to serve another term as State Master Councilor from 2010 to 2011 to fill a gap left when several brothers answered their country’s call to service in the armed forces. He agreed and was formally elected and installed. Michael has also been recognized with the Founders Membership Award, Blue Honor Key and Representative DeMolay Award. He is a Sir Knight of C. Frye Haley Memorial Priory, Order of Knighthood in Kentucky, as well as an honorary member of Kentucky DeMolay. Michael was graduated in 2008 from Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, West Virginia. He is currently a student at West Virginia University majoring in political science and business administration and hopes to attend law school in the future. At the 2011 International DeMolay Congress Session in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Michael was elected by his brethren to serve as the 45th International Congress Secretary and was duly installed.
